Split shift

My 51 has a split shift rear end and most pieces by the motor, but my question is where does the split shift **** mount and is it a turn style or the modern "red button" style.

Thanks, hopin I'll have eight gears soon, Ryan

Unless the axle has been swapped it should be vacuum controlled. Here's some pics that should help you out.

Shifting it is just like any other 2spd rear axle.

I wish my '52 had a splitter. Not to mention my '86, and my '96!

The newer shift controll buttons are made for electric two speed controls, older trucks used vacuum controlled two speed rear axles. You maybe able to use some type of a vacuum switch.

We have a selector from a GM it's kinda unique because you srin a rod in a half moon shape. I would half to turn or replace that Check and control valve assembly

Ryan, from looking at the page that Nathan has posted it looks like the control is a black choke control cable that is mounted in the dash. I know that on later years it was mounted on the gearshift lever.
