If i put the mufler that came with my mbrp 4" turbo back on instead of straight pipe would it make a difference in sound tone, when i get on it it sojunds like i have glasspacks on or something, not that its a bad thing, but it makes me feel like a complete redneck hahahah, anyways my cat got put to sleep in the process of instalation also. Im so freaked out that something bad is going to happen due to my new system. Someone pleaseeee reassure me lol
Right now I am currently straight piped too. I might add its loud. I used to run my truck with the muffler and I think i liked it better that way, the turbo whistle isn't half as loud, but it did sound really good.
I don't believe anything 'bad' can happen from replacing the factory exhaust system. MBRP makes quality products and I have their cat-back system including the muffler on my PSD. It certainly does not sound like 'glass packs' to me. I'm old enough to remember that sound!
Have you actually heard a vehicle running glass-packs? If not, pick up a copy of American Graffiti and then do another comparison!

no, but you know the sound, its like one of those really loud gurgling gasser trucks when i hit it to the floor, is there a site i can hear what it sounds like with muffler w/o muffler and w/o cat?
OK, we're probably thinking about different sounds. I'm thinking about a '50 Merc with a Flathead, chopped, channeled, tail scraping the ground with glasspacks.
Not sure about the 'glasspack sound' website, good thought though! Hmmmmm......
Glaspacs weren't anywhere near as loud a steelpacs. NYS 'outlawed' steelpacs in the mid-fifties but said the glaspacs were 'ok'. Steelpacs had a real ring to 'em....esp on that '50 Merc flathead!
