HA! I told ya so I told ya so I told ya so !!! Ok, I'm done. Whew. That felt good :-)
Fragged it right quick, didn't ya? Shipping on mine was $400 and I'm about 650 miles away. Dunno if that helps. Thats shipping 2 way.
Ya gots ta call da man. I bet he sez, core charge. At which point you grab el credit cardo. But hey, don't hurt to ask.
But you do have to tell him you want the "special coating" on the torque convertor. Guy that installed my tranny said you know they gave you a flippin pink TC? Geez. Good thing its hid. No theres not really a special coating. Thats just what we decided to call it as a joke.
IF you go with BTS, than i can almost guarantee that you will never have to worry about your transmission EVER again. He says he has a "warranty", but that doesnt mean much to BTS. Brian has "ate" several transmission well out of warranty and rated power level, just to keep the customer happy. You get the monsterbox for a few hundred less, and if it breaks out of warranty, guess what, youre buying a whole new tranny. Talk to anyone here that has a BTS tranny, and they will tell you. You can't go wrong with BTS. One person that comes to mind, is JTharvey. He has had a few run-ins with faulty STOCK Ford parts, used in his transmission that Brian built. Something was wrong, so he took it down to them, and they fixed it immediately. Not only did they fix it, they didn't charge him anything, and he got room and board and meals for free while he was there. He said Brian was really sorry to Jeremy about something out of his control. This guy is obsessed with customer service, that's why im getting a BTS tranny when the $$ rolls in.
thanks guy's...what kind of warranty does he have?is it a nation wide?? i live 1500 miles away from him..so im looking at about $600 shipping one way..got to send one back to. thats another $600..$3900 for the trans.. now im up too $5100..i have no doubt about the his trans..but is it realy worth 5100 living 1500 miles away???
2 year anything goes warranty from what I heard. I hear Brian will work with you after that. Where warranty repairs can be made other that at their shop...I don't know.
Save your pennies, I am, even though it's an 12 hour drive for me.
You may want to consider driving there. Yes, it's a long way. You won't have to pay shipping, plus you get to meet and hang out with the crew there. That in itself is worth the drive. $600 is alot of fuel, at 18+ mpg, you can go pretty far. Plus when you drive down there, you won't need a core charge. He takes your tranny out, puts his goodies in, and you are on your way. You can save yourself $1600 if you think of it in that way.
I'm driving down to get mine, and i live 1100 miles out. (or hauling it on a trailer if worse comes to worst), not because i'm cheap or i can't install it, i just can't wait to meet this guy and see his facility.
a friend stopped by last night..he took a whiff of the Trans fluid.he said he thinks I got PMS so bad that I want a new trany.he said it smelt ok to him. shavings in the bottom of pan is some what normal..there wasn't much just enough to cover the magnet..is it possible I didn't torque the vb enough or maybe I need to re torque them??would that cause the slipping in the higher setting??I'm not an auto Trans guy..I love my stick shift.but finding a used 7.3 with a stick was nearly in possible when I bout this.
well...you just might want to check that. Cause it could be causing it. However, you are probably pusing your luck running an old tranny that is giving you symptoms that is doesn't like it, that hard.

Question. If it breaks within warranty, will they honor it or say you abused it and forget about it. JT Harvey had his trans break while racing and Brian was in the stands and still towed the truck at his expense to his shop and fixed it. Try that with any other reman. They will tell you there is no warranty if they think you abused it. Brian does not.
I feel like an idiot!!!!! after posting this morning at 6 am I went out and drained my Trans..Brian suggested I did this any ways when I installed the new VB,,I pulled the pan, went to pull the filter and it just about fell into my hands..not sure how it happened but like I said I'm not an auto Trans kind of guy...but when I looked up into the hole I noticed the rubber from the old filter was still there..I had to fight to get it out..I slid the new one back on and noticed it popped into place..I then re torque the VB bolts to 95 and the nuts at 100..put the pan back on went for a long country ride and then a long hi way ride at 75 80 mph..all went well no more slipping...phew..had my self scared there for a while..the fluid cam out as red as I put it in..it smelt ok too..I'm not sure how long its been since the fluid was changed when I bought it..dealer said they changed it..but filter didn't look so good..hard to believe they changed it..thanks for your time and help guy's...
I'm gonna be nice .... Glad you didnt ...break any of those bolts .... uh... Uhm got it fixed.
lol i was trying to think if the lights went out when i pulled that old filter out..i felt like an idiot..i was beating my head on the the floor when i see it
