I need to get a new elec. shift motor for my transfer case, how do I know which type to get?? Autozone and Advance auto sell 3 or 4 different variations for my 95 f150 with 5.0 liter. They all look the same in the pic (I know it is all the same pic) but the product desciptions are slightly different. I think one said it contained a #ld pin or something to that effect and the other was just a #d pin?? Maybe?? anyhow what does that mean and how do I hook up the other 3 wires coming from the truck's t-case? These are probably pretty questions but I'm the smartest guy I know and that ain't sayin much!
if it is not working try takiing it apart and cleaning up the slip rings in the motor. did this on an explorer and it worked fine afterwards. dont know for how long htough the guy stiffed my pal and me out of our beer and never came back around.
are you sure the parts stores actually sell this part? I had to replace mine 2 years ago, and they weren't allowed to carry it. Said it was a proprietary part and you could only get it from Ford
when you unplug the motor, look at the plug there is a rubber insert that holds the wires into it. remove the insert and the wires will just slip right out. make sure you keep track of them
as for the motor, I went to a junkyard and pulled on off a crashed truck. you're looking for a Borg Warner 1356 Electronic Shift on the Fly Transfer case. The dealership wanted $300 for just the motor. I paid $100 for a T-case and a motor.
