Brakes

I have an 04 F-150 STX. It has come time to change brake pads (only 45,000 miles) does anyone know if any special tools are required besides the normal C clamps and such. I am fairly new with working on modern fords as I am normally under the hood of my 1977 F-150. Need to take care of the brakes this weekend. Any Help out there?

Thanks

Nope pretty straight forward. Get ceramic pads, not only will your braking improve but that dust is virtually eliminated. Advance Auto has them for around $50 give or take.

Leave the hose connected. Just add new fluid to the reservoir and open the bleeder when compressing the calipers.

Maybe a little late to help you guys but I'll post anyway. The most important change with ABS systems is you have to open the bleeder at the brakes like EBTDM said. The reason is that sediment can be pushed up into the valves of the ABS system. Some modern shop manuals still have the incorrect proceedure of opening the master cylinder and removing some fluid to relieve pressure when compressing. Don't forget to immediately re-tighten the bleeder as well to prevent having to bleed the system of air. Don't forget to top off master cylinder when your done. Oh and one more thing - don't forget to bed-in the brakes when done.
