226 Flat 6 Oil Filter
I drained the oil as I prepare the engine to fire for the first time in over fifteen years. What do I do with the oil filter? I took the cap off and removed the filter. I assume I need to get a new filter...right? Also, there is stil old oil in the compartment where I removed the filter...how do I remove the old oil? Thanks.

A turkey baster works good for getting the oil out of the bottom of the canister if there's no drain plug. I think they take the same filter cartridge as the flathead V-8 so one shouldn't be too hard to find.

I took my oil filter assembly completely off the engine and cleaned it out with solvent, then soap and water and dried it out real well with a towel and can of compressed air. Also made sure the little holes weren't plugged up. You should probably check the lines to make sure they aren't clogged either. Try a NAPA store for a new filter.
