Hi guys,
New guy to this forum. Bought a used '95 F-250 in January. Great truck so far. Anyway this morning my dad woke me up when he found what he thought was water running out of the front of it. After I looked it over it was antifreeze. It is dripping at about a drop every 30 seconds from where the fan connects to the oil pan? I think it's the oil pan or around there. Where the fan connects there anyways. Any ideas what it may be. I am hoping it is nothing major. Thanks for any help.
Where the fan connects to the block is pretty much the waterpump =) There is a small hole at the bottom of the waterpump that lets water out of the bearing area if it makes it past the seal -- and indicates a bad water-pump seal. If it's coming out of an aluminum thingy bolted to the front of the engine that the fan is connected to - you've got a problem.
Waterpumps can be rebuilt but I'm not aware of a kit that is available and the pump on for the 7.3L is pretty expensive if not partiuclarly hard to change.
I agree that it is most likely the water pump failing, but just for giggles also check around the thermostat housing. If it leaks it will run all the way around the pump and drip off the bottom in the same place.
