95 F250, 4X2. It was wearing the front right tire more than the left. It was also pulling to the right all the time, alignment guys found no alignment issues. I put the front of the truck on jack stands and spinned the wheels. The left would spin longer than the right. I bought a rebuilt right caliper from NAPA but I had to use the old caliper bracket as the bolt holes in the new bracket wouldn't take the old bolts (different bolt threads). The pull seems a little better but I notice that if I take my hands off the steering wheel and apply the brakes, the wheel "steers" to the right. It also seems that the right front brake would want to lock up quicker than the left on a gravel road. I replaced all the brake fluid when I did the right caliper. Any ideas?
i could see it locking up faster or better now, the new caliper will work much better than the old one on the drivers side now. as for the pull maybe using the old bracket has the new caliper sitting a little off from where it should beand lets the pads drag a bit harder than they are supposed to. go for a short drive few miles kinda thing go very easy on the brakes get out and feel for more heat coming from the right wheel. if so brakes are dragging or bad wheel bearing
I had Sears to a four-wheel alignment on my '97 F-350 XLT Crew-Cab Long-Bed 4x4 (yes, I'm bragging about my truck). The technician had to install a shim to get the right-front wheel into spec.
After the shim was installed on the right-side and the alignment brought into spec, my truck pulled severely to the LEFT.
After several tries to correct it, I had the technician ride with me. My Sears has a parking lot that is straight for 1/16 to 1/8 mile. I stopped, took my hands off the steering wheel and let the truck idle forward so the tech could see and feel why I was concerned with the alignment job he performed.
He had to make several smaller adjustments to keep it in spec AND correct the pulling issue. After this was done, he adjusted my steering wheel. I haven't had any problems with it pulling since that time.
If your wheel-area doesn't feel hotter than the other side, due to brakes dragging, and your bearings are good; have the alignment checked, just to make sure.
