OK.....please help...I've just been diagnosed with a chronic medical
condition and have limited movement in my arms & legs so it is
difficult for me to crawl around under this thing..
I was starting to winterize my "new-2-me" '91 4X2 F150 has a 5.8L with
the E4OD trans. and I CANNOT find the trans dipstick or tube.
I know this might sound stupid but...where is this thing supposed to be???
Found nothing in the Chilton manual...no suprise...and the local parts
store is useless...I NEED this truck for trips to the doctor for chemo
treatments.
Sorry to hear about your illness. I have a '92 F-150 4X4 with the E4OD and I don't imagine there is much difference as far as the tranny dipstick tube. It is (or should be) on the passengers side near the rear of the engine. The tube itself is two pieces--a short piece stubbed out of the transmission housing over the top of the front passenger side of the trans pan and a longer section that slips into that tube. The longer section has a bracket on it that is fastened to the trans by one of the bellhousing bolts. I suppose it's possible the longer piece isn't there anymore and that's why you're not seeing it. Good luck both with finding the dipstick tube and with your treatments.
I took some pics at home of my E4OD so you can see where the dipstick should be. The first pic shows the stub and the second shows the whole dipstick tube.
