Smile Over heating problem solved

Fired up 52 Panel after about 11 months of down time. Engine runs great but the nagging over heating problem at prolonged idle still was there even with a big Griffin radiator. The tin benders built a shroud that totally covers the radiator except for a 15 inch diameter opening for the electric fan. We think the fan is a 2,100 cfm unit. The engine idled for over 40 minutes and never exceeded 180 degrees. The shroud was definitely the answer. Thanks for the advice in a previous thread.

Isn't it a relief when you finally find the solution to a pull-all-your-hair-out problem? Well done!

You bet. What a relief. The truck has always ran in the 180-195 range while moving but the airflow under the hood at idle is like a swirl without the shroud. I don't smoke but a friend had his cigarette lite and you could see the air flowing over the radiator to the engine compartment. Now it goes straight up unless directly in front of the radiator, then it shoots straight through the radiator.
