Just about to get the 58 back on the road. Before I expertly stripped out one of the head bolts, I had a overheating problem. I'm going to switch the stock fan to a seven blade flex. Now my question is that if I put this flex fan on do I need to worry about wearing the water pump out faster? The engine is a 223. Thank you for your help...Happy Fording!!!
I completely agree with Bob. Jeg's has a large selection of fans and spacers so you can put the flex fan right where you want it. Only knock on flex fans in the early days was their propensity to toss a blade at high RPM. They are much better now and we aren't talking about a high RPM application anyway.
I don't like flex fans. I had one fly apart on me, and a guy I work with had one fly apart on him, and it left him stranded with a blade through the radiator.
