I've seen the oil baths modified to take a paper filter; if I find the source, that might help a little. Hopefully some Y blockers (is it a Y block?) will add more. There are Y block and Flathead sites which may be of more help.

Or you can run a $9 chrome one. I have one of these on my flatty. It needs a filter throw it and get all new for $9.
