2000 steering locking

2000 steering locking
I have a 2000 w/ v-10 and having a problem with the steering locking up when you turn the wheel with your foot on the brake. If I take my foot off the brake it will turn with no problem. It goes back to the dealer tonight, I just thought some of you might have an idea what this could be. This is while I'm in 2wd. thanks

I got my 2000 excursion back tonight. The dealer told me that "some normal binding is normal with a vehicle this size." Huh? He said the tires need to be able to slightly rotate for the wheels to turn left to right. Then he tells me that he can't even think of a time that you would even need to turn the wheels with your foot on the brake at a full stop. Well are any of you excursion owners able to sit in their driveway with their foot on the brake and turn the wheel left to right, lock to lock. please let me know. thanks.

I have 2005 Limited V10 and my buddy has a 2003 F250 with same thing your describing. However, I have always had problems turning the wheels while not moving on other 4WD large trucks with Live Axle/Leaf Spring front suspensions. So, some amount of heavy resistence when "dry steering" is normal.
I can think of plenty of times when I'd love to be able to turn lock to lock effortlessly from a standstill. But, it ain't happening in this thing.
