I have driven manual transmissions all my life but never one "on the column". Can anyone describe the shift partern to me of your typical 3-speed manual that would be in an early to mid fifties effie?
It's a standard 'H' pattern. Looking at the column from the passenger seat, the top of the 'H' tilts toward the windshield.
From this perspective, Reverse is left and up. First is left and down. Second is right and up. Third is right and down. Neutral is the horizontal bar in the middle.
