Question Ranger Problems

I Have A 01 Ranger 3.0, The Catalytic Converters Have Been Cut Off, Will A Universal Fit Converter Be Sufficient For The Truck Or Do I Need More?

Question Why

Why do people continue to do things like that? I can understand if the cats got plugged and you are broke, but at least gut them and leave the O2 sensors in place. I doubt that with the two upstream and one or two down, that it will be cheap to replace even with A/M system. It will run in closed ? (default guesses by computer) loop and have check engine lites on without proper system and O2 sensors in place. (wont' pass emmisions for sure). Wont accelerate as fast without the designed backpressure-less low end and mid range. Just dumb and i have seen wicked fast rides run hi flow or stock cats and pass emmisions while doing it.

Make sure the converters you install are OBDII compliant... otherwise it'll set a check engine light with "converter efficiency" codes.

Alot of universal converters are not OBDII compliant... you're better off finding used ones than installing universal ones.

Good luck
