I have two friends with duramax's and they both got letters increasing the warrenty on the injectors an addition 100,000 miles. What,s up Ford? Also i just priced up three f-150's and chevys 1500's. Ford's 25% more. I might have to switch.

Hang on for a while. The truck price wars are only just beginning. I have tried to always base my vehicle decisions on current need, value and availability...when I recently bought my Suburban it was for these reasons. Very nice SUV BTW.
In regards to trucks...Ford, IMO, still puts the best overall vehicle on the road. Hands down.
Sounds like you have made your decision. Keep in mind the 1/2 ton chev's have rear drums still and the f150 are disc all around. I just replaced my brakes on the 2001 f150 and it had over 60,000 miles on it and there was still some pad left. I am a Ford guy so if you ask me Ford is the only way to go, but if you were to stray I think Chevy isn't a bad choice. I have had a brand new Chevy truck in 1991 and since then I have had all Fords 7 to be exact.
Sorry about the guick posts in a row, I was little to excited. Some of my frustration with ford is when i called about some injector issues. They told me they wouldn't cover injectors becouse it wasn't part of the motor. I had to explain to some girl on the phone that didn't know anything about auto' s what an injector was. Still she said "no sorry". My wife doesn't want to go on vacation because she's afraid the truck will break down again. I have 10 fords (all in three years). I'm a ford guy. but it's hard to stay if they don't want you.
I'm not sure if I am missing something Are you looking to get rid of your 03 F350 6.0 and buy a 1/2 ton chev? Perhaps this thread is better suited for the "Ford vs Competition" forum-
FWIW I buy vehicles (trucks & vans) for our company and usually get 1/2 ton chev pick-ups because they are a lot cheaper $ than the Ford... Although all of our vans are 3/4 ton Ford as they have been a lot tougher than the chev vans in the past. Funny looking fleet but it works.
GMs gave them longer Injector warranty because they are such POSs to beging with!! Huge numbers were replaced under the OEM warranty and then replaced again!! I have a subcontractor that is on his third complete set and they extended his to 250,000 miles!! last set was put in at 188,000. GM had so may problems with there Diesels very few people trust them. I know I had one, that's the main reason I will never own anouther GM product because of it!! I had never owned a Ford until 01, always a GM man before that!!

Stop at a Rest Area along any Interstate Highway in mountainous terrain on a hot summer day and you will see why GM changed/redesigned the cooling system capacity on the 06 DuraMax. I was going to start posting pics in my gallery of the many overheated DuraMax's (towing a trailer) that I have personally seen- But decided it was bad Karma to make light of someone else's troubles
Of the vehicles I have had major problems with (2, one GM and 1 Ford) I have from personal experience found out that General Motors will make every effort under the sun to fix the problem. It may not be fixable, but they will try. They will extend warranties, pay for repairs outside warranties, whatever it takes. Ford on the other hand won't talk to you, won't discuss it, won't do diddly. Ford and their dealers will do their darndest to bandaid your vehicle back together long enough to get it out of warranty at which point, they are D-O-N-E with you. I really hate a Chevrolet truck, I always have. Without question, Ford's biggest advantage over Chevrolet is their Frame and Suspension. It has not now nor ever been engines with the exception of the diesels and with this latest engine, that is suspect at best. I like a Ford Cab. I like the fact that there are 3 ***** for the heat and air not come goobly complex computer system that wants me to set the cab tempeature to the 10th of a degree. Real simple, Heat, Air, Defrost/ Fan Fast to slow/ Which hole it comes out of. You couldn't give me an Allison transmission in a pickup. If I had to do all of that goobly goop, I'd just assume have a Manual shift truck. It's easier to get manual Fords than Chevys although that is becoming suspect lately.
All that said, Ford's customer service and poor engineering of late is driving people away from their product. You can't convince me that the 6.0 is any more reliable than the 6.4L Detroits GM had a few years ago. Couple that unreliability with refusal to acknowledge the problem and customer service reps that won't speak to customers, won't return phone calls, and you have what you have.
I have no desire to own a 6.4L or whatever that new powerstroke is. I am looking for a decent shape 95 to 97 Powerstroke to replace my 2004 with. Why? Because they are reliable, they are repairable when they break, and who gives a turkey about a warranty that isn't backed up very well by the manufacturer or it's dealers. If I ever get shed of this 2004 truck, it'll be the last new one I'll own.
