This is my first post on this forum having lurked for some time now. I've been looking hard at 64-66 F100's but so far, only on line. I was hoping someone could answer these questions for me:
1. Is the cab on a 64-66 F100 big enough for two adults and a child in the middle without feeling too squeezed ? I plan to install shoulder belts for three if there's room.
2. Can someone tell me the weight of this vehicle ? I'm thinking about towing it behind our RV and the recommended max tow weight is 3500 lbs.
3. Has anyone had experience purchasing a vehicle with no title (not required in originating state) and then trying to get a title because their state requires one ? I'm looking at one in NY that has no title but here in Michigan, we need one.
Thanks for any help you can provide. I'm really looking forward to joining this forum team.

John Please be officially welcomed to the 61-66 FTE forum.
1- Yes
2- It is in the 4,000 lbs range
3- Present a bill of sale to your DMV, but check with them first, in case you need something specific.
Buy a 65-66 Twin I-Beam truck. 61-64 look the same but are more difficult to up-grade with Disk brakes, power steering and a host of other improvements. The twin I-Beam trucks have the same front frame until 1979 so parts are more commonly available.
I recently registered my '66 here in NY. I brought: Certification of the truck's weight, pic of the VIN (or penciling), and the bill of sale. In NY, past a certain year, the registration is the title.
For a stock F100 with a 352, it should be ~3800lbs or more. My '66 has a 302 which is lighter, and no tailgate atm. With ~1/4 tank mine weighed 3520lbs; probably 3600lbs with a tailgate. For towing info, I'd use the 4000lb figure Jowilker mentioned.
On a related point, the truck I'm considering buying is a 65 F100 with 302. How would you rate that engine size for this truck - power, torque, durability, etc.
What's the tranny? Mine has a 4spd w/ no granny gear.
I've got a 650cfm 4bbl carb and it's too much; 450 - 500 would be better. Dual exhaust but I'd like a balance tube at some point.
When I had 3.70 gears it had a lot of torque. After switching to 3.25's (original-ratio) and it's noticeably less, but with higher RPM's it's still good. I haven't done any towing with it but I'm sure it could handle a car or light truck.
Hey clancassidy, I've got a 64 f100 longbed with the original 292 y-block and ford-o-matic trans I have modified it a great deal P/S, P/D/B front but the real thing is the cab area I have a 40-20-40 bench seat my daughter who loves the truck sits in the middle plenty of room. Momma has plenty of legroom I only have two shoulder straps and a waist belt I need to put a third shoulder in. when I'm in it I put the center back down and it's perfect. You can look at my gallery for my seat set up along with other mods I've done.
