For the ones that had the 4WD option, it seems that the 4x4 low, 4x4 high and 4x4 auto was the common setup.

You have what is known as a Controltrac transfer case, in the auto position it will deliver power to the front proportionate to the amount of slippage, or the rotational difference between the front and rear driveshaft. it is designed for driving on pavement, no binding.
in the 4x4 high and 4x4 low it operates like a conventional t/c, DO NOT drive on dry pavement..
