'50 F-6 speedometer cable

Where should the speedometer cable pass thru the firewall on my '50 F-6? It has had a 292 swapped into it, and the cable currently passes thru a hole just below the (non-factory) heater and interferes with the heater. I suspect this isn't the proper place, and would like to relocate it to the correct location if possible. http://www.tx3.net/~johnsonf/pictures/SPEEDOHOLE.JPG
The picture shows where it currently passes thru, to the right of the transmission opening and just below where the toe board transitions to the vertical firewall. Thanks.

Look where the transmission cover bolts to the floor on the upper left corner. Just above the cover there should be a hole a little larger than the end of the speedo cable. The cable comes off the tranny and crosses back over the bellhousing and enters on the left side.
