02 Sensor

I have a 99 Expedition EB. I'm going to get the exhaust reworked. I'm going to either gut the cats or just cut them off. And no its not illegal here. But I cant find an 02 Simulator for the 5.4 i have. I found one for a 4.6 mustang but that doesnt help me much. Does anyone know where i can find this thing so that it doesnt mess up my computer when i do this? I'm leaving in about a week for a 2k mile drive so im hoping to get some better gas mileage by getting this done first.

Will the mustang one not work? As far as I recall they simply provide an ocillating signal +- to the PCM. In other words I'm not sure the voltages are different.

IMHO you'll throw a catalyst efficiency code without a simulator, but it won't affect how your engine runs, won't screw anything up. The CEL will drive your passengers crazy, they'll think something is wrong...but you'll know better.

I had a rich tune once, CEL light was on and I knew why. My girl refused to ride with me for a while, she thought my engine was gonna blow up.

I think all you need is an MIL Elininators which do what hkiefus mentioned below. Check on the 'stang forums for where to buy some or you can find directions on how to make some with parts from RadioShack.

EDIT: Here you go...http://www.mileliminators.com/

Well it looks like i didnt look into it that well. It is illegal to take them off and gut them. But if the car didnt come with one then you dont have to put on on it. Well i called the tech department at Summit Racing and they told me the 4.6 mustang one wont work. I talked to my muffler shop and they told me that I will probably get that check engine light and my engine will probably go into "safe" mode. So it will just eat the gas. I dunno I'll check out the website "bridge" sent me and try it out. If its going to be a pain in the *** i'll probably just have them put a new high flow cat on.
Thanks for the help guys, i'll let you know what i do.

It won't go into safe more if the REAR O2 sensors are removed. That's not how the system works. The rears aren't required for optimal engine operation, which is precisely why the MIL eliminators work. The rears just tell the ECU if you have functioning cats, which is a requirement of OBDI/II standards. You'll be fine, but the check engine light gets annoying.

It will go into safe mode if you remove the FRONT O2 sensors, but that would not be smart for any reason. The fronts are responsible for getting your air/fuel ratios correct, so without them you'll go into safe mode and your truck will run cr@ppy.

Good luck

Well i found some of those Mil Eliminators so hopefully they will be here soon. I'm going to try to get the exhust done in a couple of days. So I might have the check engine light on for a couple of days before i get the eliminators. Thanks for your help, now all i need to do is replace the spark plugs, according to the other posts it doesnt sound like alot of fun. Oh ya I plan on dual flowmaster 40 series. I think they are 40 series, they are the 3 chamber so it will sound nice when i step on it but hopefully wont be too loud and annoying.

Well the guys talked me out of the flowmasters and into magnaflow. It sounds good. A little loud, it would be nice if it was on a truck, but just sounds weird on my expy. Maybe i'll get used to it, i dont really know. At least it sounds like a V8 now.
