Hi.
I have a 49 F3 that has had the engine and transmission replaced by the previous owner. He thinks that the 302 and 4 speed manual was from a 79 truck, but he can't be sure of the year. It was however, from a pick-up. The original guage cluster is intact and in good condition so I would hate to get rid of it. The speedometer doesn't work, the temperature guage reads hot all of the time( I'm sure that it's just the difference from a 6 to 12 volt system and only a resistor should be required) and the ammeter and oil pressure guages work well.
Is there a tag located on the engine and transmission to identify what year they are and if so where are they located on the unit? Is there an adaptor available that anyone knows of to mate the stock speedometer to the 79(?) tranny, or should the cable work without adaptation?
