Oil selection

I know this is old stuff but I only have 2 posts and can't use the search function cause I haven't posted in 2 weeks so here goes. I am coming up on my 5,000 mile service and was wondering what oil to use. Synthetic or regular and what change intervals. BTW I have a '06 350 CCLB 4wd and I only haul kids and a small mobile bbq pit.

Thanks!

I would stay with 15W-40 convential oil for at least another 5,000 miles due to break-in. If you live in a cold weather area then you may consider switching to synthetics... otherwise any name brand convential oil will do.

Lokk for the following...

API certification of either CI4+ (old spec, but still available) or the brand new CJ4 oil that just started hitting shelves and is optional for your truck and mandatory for 2007/2008 trucks with the new 6.4L diesels in them.

Buy Motorcraft, Fram or Racor made filters as they fit better and filter better and meet all OEM fit and filtering requirements.

Buy any name brand diesel rated, API rated oil you would like as long as it is either CI4+ or CJ4... do not use anything else.

Good luck,
