It no longer amazes me that so many people had trucks like these. I traillered my truck down town today and when I picked it up at the muffler shop i had to have a long decussion about these trucks with 5 different guys. Then had the same situation when I went to price my bodywork right after, Turns out my body man had one too and while talking he mention he still had a brand new set of breaks for one but sold the truck before he put them on, so he offered to give them to me. Which makes a person think guys who have owned one of these old beats really understand why we love them and spend so much time/money one them.
yea i think only ford lovers understand how i feel about my 77 4x4 f150 lol every time i bring it up to my gf she gets mad at me because i work on it so much
lose the girlfriend, find a new one that drives an old Ford truck!!!!
First off I have to say that my truck is not in perfect condition, but it is respectable enough to get the common truck enthusiast to stop and ask questions. I even had the janitor at my school stop me and ask about my 1979 F-150. It does feel good to see some notice all the work that was put in to it even though its is a work in progress.
It once took me an hour to get inside the grocery store. I talked to three different people. Two of them pulled in just to talk about my truck. And my 77 has a hood that could be described as just "rust" colored (the rest is red)
I have people stop by and walk up to me in my driveway and ask if I am selling my truck I am in the process of repaiting it, and my neighbors see the progress over the last year I do love that.
I have had my truck for 15 years now! Gettings its first ever RE-paint
My 16 year old daughter drives mine/hers to school every day, she is the coolest peep in the parking lot
It's a 77 F250,4x4 with a 400 auto and it sure does look great.
I need to put some picture in my gallary.
Every day she says people are waving at her and she don't even know them
My Boys 5 & 7 love to go in the 4th of july parade. I give them each a big bowl of candy and tell them to toss it out to all the pretty girls. The oldest Jake starded to toss some out then stopped. I ask him what was wrong. He said she was'nt very pretty Papa. I about rearended the classic in front of me as I got to laughing so hard.
My best friend owns a recycling business, and I have my truck parked in his yard so I can take the bed and bumpers off, because I am make a custom flatbed and winch bumper for my 74 camper special highboy. Long story short he had to put a big NOT FOR SALE sign in the windshield, because so many people were asking to buy it, customers were backing up, and its still early in the restoration stage. I'm proud to be a ford owner.
My 66 and my 77 both are always getting questions and comments, I have had more offers on both of them not for sale, then when I was selling any of my other trucks, on my 66 I have the dual outlet headers/split manifold, I had an older gentleman in Raleys' parking lot come up to me and asked me to start it up and rev it a few times for him, the sparkle in his eye and the time talking to him about souping up the ol straight sixes was well worth it! My wife still cannot understand why my daughter LOVES for me to take her to school in Ol'Bessie(my 66) or Diego(the 77) that is her monday treat, she is an old Ford Truck girl in the makins!!! Makes me so proud, sniff, sniff !!!!!
I have a friend who has a 47 Ford woody and he tows a small '66 Airstream which is as buffed as the car. Between the Ford fans, woody fans and Airstream freaks he can't stop anywhere without being swamped with people who want to talk. Buying gas takes him an hour.
When I get the 73 out of the shop people stop and ask if it's going to be a monster truck. No I say then they ask where I'm going to drive it I say on the road as a driver. The looks on there faces is worth the blood and sweat, tears will come when I cam drive it. Have photos in gallery.
