I went to get my windows tinted yesterday and the tinter told me due to the 'Super Duty' ceramic painted dots across the windshield that it's better not to tint the front because the painted dots would cause a lot of air gaps between the tint and the window thus making the tint look bad ... I did get the front doors tinted but I am missing the windshield being tinted, I do like my front tint. ('06 F250)

Have you guys ran into any solutions for this?
I have always had all of my vehicles tinted. But ONLY the sides, rears and rear windshields. Usually, like on the SUV's or even the SD's, the rears are already factory tinted, so the only ones that need to be tinted are the front passenger and front drivers windows. I have always had them match the tinting to the fctory and always turned out awesome looking.
I have NEVER had them tint the front windshield. Actually, I think it is illegel here (maybe in other states too) Unless of course you are talking about tinting like the first few inches from the top, like they used to do in the years past.
I have had a few vehicles that have those little dot designs on the edges of the window (my mustang for one) but it hasn't been an issue. The tinters took their time and used the hot air gun and worked the tint very well. I have never had a tinted window that came loose or had any other type of air pocket development or compromise do to these dot things.
Good morning PHWLEE, actually I am referring to only tinting the few inches or so below the top of the windshield ... seems like it's something like an 8 or 9 inch strip? I don't understand why it couldn't be done if the proper time and care was taken.
I really haven't taken notice to the front windshields on other newer Super Duty trucks running around to see how many are tinted but you know how that goes, now that it's on my mind I'll probably notice all of 'em.
I notice also that the top front strip is not factory tinted either, I guess the ceramic dots are supposed to take place of the tint? I prefer the old factory tint myself.
It can be done, it is just a real pain in the rear. you have to find a good shop to do it right, otherwise it will turn out looking like crap. it probably wont be too cheap either.
I have a few friends that have done this to their trucks, it turned out looking good, and no problems as of yet. Just make sure that the place that does it guarantees their work, so if it does start to peal or whatever they will fix it for free.
if you really want it done and are that worried about it, then take a razor blade and scrape them off. they come off pretty easy if you use a sharp blade.
i had it done on 2 trucks, my 2004 and my new 2006, tint all the way around including the front, its legal in states to have it in the front, but only down to a certain point, there is even a little line on the edge of the windshield to mark it.
anyways, mine costs $135 both times, took an hour and a half, and zero problems with the little dots or anything else.
that is known as the AS1 mark. it even has an arrow to show exactly where the limit is. it is on every windshield. even the factory tint does not exceed this line.
I had my '06 SC tinted all the way around including an 8'' strip on the windsheild. It was done in a buddy's driveway by a gentlman who used to do vehicles and now tints office building windows. It was 'not' a pain in the ***, it took him just under 2 hours to do the whole truck and it is beautifully and carefully done. Best part, it cost $100 cash and 2 beers.
It can be done and it can look good. Find another shop
