Hey im new btw, but i was wondering if anyone knew if i need a CD adapter for my truck (83' Ford F100 Explorer) do i need an adapter to run a cd player? please help me if i do, and point me to the right place thanks.
Go to WALMART (evil in some people's mind) they sell the wiring harness and the installation kit. If you're truck came with the shaft mounted radio go to the junkyard and find the trim panel from an '85 or 86 with the DIN style radio. That or get some 1/4 ply or panelling and make your own.
ahhh walmart ... they have generic harnesses most of them dont work right they dont have the specific ones ... i would recommend going to your local car audio dealer and they should have vehicle specific wiring harnesses shouldnt run you more than 5 bux ... they come with wires labeled for where to wire it ... problem i ran into with mine tho was that the door speaker wires ran 1 ground wire to the both of them ... poor sound quality so i ran a new wire to the door speakers and while i was at it wired speakers behind the seat .. sounds awsome and as for the center pannel what i did with mine was shave it out i have a 150 not sure if the middle trim pannel is the same but if it is if you shave around the insides of the rectangle with the **** holes in them your radio will fit in there perfectly and you will also need a bracket to mount it which you can also pick up at any car audio store another 10 to 15 bux so not too bad
