daytime running lights
Chris
On my friends Chevy there is a separate fuse for the DRL Day Running Lights. He removed it, no DRL's. Lights function normally otherwise. I don't know if Ford uses the same circuitry. Check fuse box or owners manual.
Bightrucker
I can't help but say if my truck had them I'd be doing something fast, even if its just a simple bulb removal.
I can't count the number of gm vehicals i see running around after dark or in the rain/fog with only the DRL on. I think that the engineers should have at least made it so the tail lights burn in addition to the DRL so you can see these fools before you run over them.

On our 97 buick, it has drl's and automatic headlights/taillights that come on when darkness comes. This would be annoying on a truck, but is a good way of avoiding people running with only front DRL's at night.
The best of both worlds would be to have the DRL on the front parking lights like corvettes and dodge minivans, that way you have to turn on your lights to get headlamps.
They serve a purpose, don't diable them unless it is absolutely required, and serves as a hazard.
