The New Vehicle Limited Warranty does not cover any damage caused by: alterations or modifications of the vehicle, including the body, chassis, or components, after the vehicle leaves the control of Ford Motor Company; tampering with the vehicle, tampering with the emissions systems or with other parts that affect these systems (for example, but not limited to exhaust and intake systems); the installation or use of a non-Ford Motor Company part (other than a "certified" emissions part) or any part (Ford or non-Ford) designed for "off-road use only" installed after the vehicle leaves the control of Ford Motor Company, if the installed part fails or causes a Ford part to fail. Examples include, but are not limited to lift kits, oversized tires, roll bars, cellular phones, alarm systems, automatic starting systems and performance-enhancing powertrain components.

Wow...you're fast.

It pretty much means that if you break it...you bought it.

I always wonder how cell-phones affect the vehicle... unless it is from the days of when they were built into or bolted into the truck (1989 - 1994)... or so?

With dealers selling lifted trucks, roll bars, alarm systems, tires, and starting systems... who warrents these items or the truck in general? Some will say the dealer... but if one moves... does one dealer have to get reimbursed from the selling dealer? Ford corporate always makes the dealer be their eyes and ears and responsible for repairs and paperwork... so it would seem that if a dealer sells a new truck that in some way FMC is on the hook if the FMC approved dealer sold a new truck with "dealer installed" options????

Would seem to me that in this day and age of "CYA" that a buyer would want a written ademdum to the contract speling out that the "dealer installed options" are covered under the bumper to bumper warrenty and will be paid either by FMC or the dealer regardless of the dealer doing the repairs (in case someone moves).

Seems resonable to me in this day and age of FMC trying to limit their expopsure as well... so should the buyer of a truck with dealer installed components.

Beach--- as far as the cell phones, the vehicles of today are so sensitive to all outside influences. Case in point, I have had a couple with add on electronic devices that during installation, wires from the device were inadvertantly routed parallel with ignition wires. The rf interference from the add on wire was causing driveability issues. The proper way to route is not to parallel the wire, but to "cross" it. Chrysler was having trouble with crank sensors a couple years back from rf interference. Drive by an airport with a lot of radar use and they wouldnt run. Push them past the airfield and it will start.

Vloney--funny you should mention the chrysler products and radar....My K40 will beep a dodge truck for quite a ways. I've had it happen lots of times when I thought it was the "man" and turned out to be nothing but a Chrysler.

Jeff--If a dealer sells/installs A/M parts on a vehicle--it's the selling dealers responsibility to warranty it. I had this come up several times when I was in the bodyshop parts business. Sometimes it gets quite intense with management as to who pays, but it is the selling dealership. It is possible that a dealership will reimburse another if they are on good terms, but not usually.
