Temp guage sensor
Temp guage stopped working, so I investigated under the hood to find the wire on the temp guage had come off. It looks like someone cut the plug off that snaps on the temp sensor, which has an end like a threaded bolt. They used a blue wire crimp to anchor it to the sensor. My question is this. If I find a plug off another truck at the junk yard can I just splice the two wire together. I want a black rubber snap plug that came with the truck originally, and attach it to the sensor so it will stay on. So splicing the wires should work ?

you can buy a ford electrical connector selection for under ten bucks at most autoparts stores...it's a bare metal connector with the right round end, there's other connectors in the package too that will come in handy...tell the parts counter person that you need the wiring connector end for the temp sending unit...it's in the package. i'd replace the whole wire, less chances of problems down the road...use a little shrink wrap on the connection to protect it.
