Brought my 63 SWB stepside F100 home yesterday. Just a few questions. I'm currently searching the site for info on an engine swap. It currently has a 223 in it and I'm going to swap a 302 or 351w in it. I found most of the info needed except info on the driveshaft. Is it necessary to shorten the driveshaft ? The other question I have is... when I take the original drivetrain out, is it worth anything ? Are there parts that I should hold onto ? What is the tranny that's in there ? It's a 3spd. manual. Well, that's about it for now. I'll be annoying everyone with more questions soon.
Thanks, Darrel
Darrel, Welcome to FTE and the 61-66 forum, It's the #1 ol Ford tech support site.
You will need an engine conversion kit for a side mount engine/tranny. The end of the driveshaft for newer trannys will probablly be different so a change there is likely.
No there isn't much value in the old engine/tranny boat anchors. If you run across someone that will give you a hundred bucks for it take it and run. IMHO
