Aux radio input

I have a 05 F250 CC. My radio has an aux input switch, does anyone know where the connections are for this, or is it a matter of pulling the whole dash apart?

You need a special connector that plugs in the back of the stereo. Which means you have to pull the whole dash apart. I just did this on my 06, its alittle bit of a pain in the ***, but its well worth it, the sound from my sirus radio is remarkable. I don't know of the part number off hand though, search the super duty forum for radio aux, and it should come up. Its made by PIE

As MrMike06 stated, you need something to convert the CAN bus connector on the back of the stock head unit into something usable. Most folks around here, myself included, would point you in the direction of P.I.E.'s FRD04-AUX, if you are looking at keeping the stock head unit.

If you go this route, you'll end up with a pair of RCA connectors that you can use to hook a portable MP3 player, satellite radio reciever, or something similar into the stock head unit.

I just installed the P.I.E Adapter and I did not remove the dash. It was tight and I lost some skin but it was possible to install going thru the small glove box.

I installed the PIE this weekend and installed a 3.5 jack in the power port/air bag switch plate. I didn't want hanging wires all of the time. The only issue is that I'm not crazy about the display on Aux that says CRYSTL LINE and shows a headphone symbol all of the time. The sound is great though.

Pulling the dash out slightly to give you more working room is helpful, and it is required to remove the airbag/power outlet plate. Just pull on the cover and work your way hands around the dash cover. I wasn’t able to make it come completely out since the shifter was in the way, but I got enough room to work which is all I needed.

I bought a RCA to 3.5 adapter cut the end off and then soldered the jack on to the wires. After pulling the plate, I drilled a hole near the bottom under the air bag switch making sure that I didn't hit the switch and leaving room for the inside of the jack. You'll have to run the wires through the hole before you solder the jack on the wire if you use the plastic type jack. I then pushed the jack into the hole and zip tied the wire to the air bag switch to make sure it won't get pulled out of the jack. Make sure your soldered connections don't touch each other. I put liquid electrical tape between the contacts to make sure I didn't have an issue. Heat shrink would work too. One more note about soldering the connector on. Each wire is coax. The jack has 3 connectors. The outside copper for each wire goes to the middle connector and the wire inside of the coax plastic goes to each side. Just twist the outside copper for each wire together and then solder to the middle connector.

I use the PIE adpater and it works great.

Makes ure you get the right adpater for what you want to hook up. Some come with power connections and line in connections.

I use a PIE XM5-FRDN kit for my XM Airware radio system... so make sure you pick the right one.

What are you hooking up?

May want to check out the website of Panavise.com for some great mounting solutions... as I use one for my XM radio that can be seen in my gallery. It connects to the ashtray holder screw and requires no dash removal (at least on the 2003 - 2006 models).

Again.. my gallery has pics if this mounting solution meets your needs and requires no drilling or dash removal.

Good luck,

I used a two input adapter from Crutchfield. One for the Sirius and the other for my iPod. The one for the iPod runs under the carpet and up through the center console as I usually have the iPod sitting in the console tray.
