Question Stacks for performance or looks

Hi everybody, I was curious about people who have installed stacks and if they have experienced any benefits to having them, or did you get them for visual effect? Is it louder? Does it give you more turbo whistle? Is there a problem with water collecting down inside? Does cutting a hole through the bed present a problem later if you decide to sell your truck? If anybody has them what has been your overall experience with them? Thanks Phat!

They're freakin awesome! I love them. At first i thought they were too redneck for me, however they grew on me. There is no performance benefit over a 4 or 5" exhaust. However, neither of those two can compare with the sound of a 7.3 barking through two 6"x36" stacks. Mine is full straight-pipe, and the turbine whistle is very apparent and loud, especially at lower RPMs. And, my favorite is right at 2300rpm, there is a nice loud barking v-8 rumble. I have pics of my trucks, however no videos... yet. My buddy has a vid cam, and we are going to get some footage soon. Those of you who think your 4 or 5" straight pipe sound good.... hah.

Hi Strokin, Do they sound better than your normal 4 to 5" setup?

I had a 4" straight pipe with a 6x24" tip, and i've heard a 5" straight pipe. Yes they sound good, but there is no comparison to 6" stacks. I want to get the video up so bad.

click on the pic.

Is there a difference between having one single stack or is it better with two?

Well, two stacks sound twice as good as one, it's like stereo. Unless it's a hood stack, i think a single stack, be it on the right, left, center, or above the downpipe, it just looks stupid! Dee dee dee!

Thanks guys, I agree two look better than one. In your opinion who manufactures one of the best setups and how much did you spend?

Grand Rock, they have the full kits ready to bolt on the truck. A seller has them on ebay, the 5" kits for $395, and the 6" kits for $495.

Are they stainless or aluminized steel for that price?

I spend around 250 for my setup. my buddy had 5" turn out on his truck and replaced them with 6" mitres so i gave him 100 bucks and i got the 5" turn outs. Then i made my own T out of 5" pipe. I bought the elbows and all the other etc. item with the 10 ft of 5" pipe(i still do not know what i was thinking when i bought 10 feet of it.) came out to about 150$.

The elbow and the splitter pipe are aluminized steel, and the stacks are polished chrome. I heat wrapped my downpipe, and painted the rest of the exhaust system black with ceramic paint, to match my bed liner. No rust.

The actual stacks are chrome, the T and the elbows and piping up to the stacks is aluminized steel.
