dropped axle

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Sep-02 AT 11:37 PM (EST)]I have one but haven't installed it yet. The main problem is interference between the tie rod and springs. When you raise the spindle location this puts the tie rod in line with the front springs instead of below. A book I bought 20+ years ago shows the installation and they bent the arms some and installed the tie rod upside down above the spring, but they make spacers now that bolt to the steering arms and still mount the tie rod below the springs ( you may already have these ). In the old article they also heated and bent the steering arm the drag link goes to and lowered it to keep the drag link parallel with the ground, but in the more recent ( '99? ) article nothing was said about this . My '53 has had the pitman arm shortened to ease the steering, so I don't think this would be an issue.
