The old saying is you have to crawl before you walk. I was once new at Ebay back in 1999, and have since built my Pos Feedback up close to 600, and 1 Neg. Then again everybody is impossible to satisfy, so this one means nothing to me, not that I mind it its that the guy was a jerk.

Anyway your right about the schill bidding, and the second chance offer to buy because the first fell through. I get about 3 a month, second chance offers that is. If you have an Ebay account, the second chance offer should be in your My Message Box, if its no then its a Scam. Simply foward it to spoof@ebay.com The entire message and add nothing to it at all.

Now that thats cleared up its a damm shame that the honest person gets the raw deal, or hassle. I have bought a few Trucks off Ebay and all were in my personal opinion all has worked out as they were described, some even better. This counterfeit B.S. is real bad for the economy, as well as the guy who is trying to be upfront honest. My personal payment preference is by International M/O, and I get in touch with my buyer/seller, over the phone. Its getting so damm bad now that an International M/O that I have bought from my Bank cannot be used in another Bank. This past summer I blew the transmission in my hauler, and couldn't get a $1000.00 M/O cashed, or used as partial payment. I was even told by several Banks the American Express is useless, go figure that one.

This Nigeria B.S. is another thing, as was aalready mentioned. Why would a person send you more than what the price was in the first place? Sounds to good to be true? Right it certainly is, as for overseas buyers some of these people are victims of the A$$ holes that make up the schemes that scam others.

Like in South America put them to the Cane, maybe then they will learn.

The question that started this thread, about the sale of a vehicle to Aussie, there was a thread on here not to long ago about a guy in CA., that scamed him, and he was an upfront buyer. I believe this has been settled thanks to a couple of FTE members, and others that took on the job of making things right.

So in closing be carefull, and alert if it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is.

One of my first Ebay sales was a 92 Ford pickup and a guy in Germany bought it.
Im in Canada.
He wired the money direct to my bank account from his bank.
That way there is no piece of paper to be counterfiet (check , money order etc). I had my money in less than 24 hrs.
The funny part is he didnt come get the truck for almost a year.
He used it while he was here on holidays then shipped it home.

I have been buying and selling on ebay since 1998 and have receiced over 800 positive comments, with no negatives or neutrals. I have never been burned (yet); I look at an ebayers history and feedback carefully. If someone appears flakey, assume they are. There is so much available on ebay, that if you are patient, you can find what you need from a reputable seller. Most of my purchasers use PayPal. It costs me a little for each transaction, but I've never not received the money.

I prefer a personal check and waiting for it to clear before shipping. If bad, it will bounce back faster than a bad MO or cashier's check.

My auction closed last nite at 10:36. A gentleman in Pa. paid 26,600$. Quite a war between him and another guy with about 5 min. to go. Thanks for the help.

Very typical that the real bidding takes place at the very end, a savy ebayer just like at a live auction waits until the last moment to see what the "action" is, or like myself, uses snipe program to place his bid. My bids go in with 3-5 sec left, with no chance for a live bidder to outbid me. Bad part is I sometimes get out sniped, like yesterday on two auctions, I was 2nd highest bidder.

I use a snipe strategy too, and set my price such that I get outbid only if the other guy paid too much. Sometimes as a seller, I see two ebayers get in a bidding war, and both are bidding more than it is worth. I recently had a $500 outboard motor sell for over $900.

AXracer: Tell me about the snipe program.

I use Hammersnipe. It's free if you use it infrequently. The paid subscription is unlimited and allows bids to be placed as close as 3 sec from closing. You set your max bid and it will bid for you up to that amount. the good things are that you can change your max bid up or down or cancel altogether up to 30 sec before the end, something you cannot do on ebay. You do not need to be online when the auction ends. It also allows you to set up a group of auctions to bid on, and will bid on each until it wins however many you want and then not bid on the rest. This is real handy if the same seller is selling several of the same items in different auctions, or several sellers are selling the same item. You can set different max bids for each item in the group. If you place a separate bid on ebay, say to prevent a buy it now, Hammersnipe will recognize that bid and not bid against you.

Sounds great; thank you. That will be handy for traveling or when my laptop battery dies or sets my computer ablaze.

I buy and sell on E-Bay frequently. Sometimes in thousands of dollars, mostly mid century modern furniture, bicycles and old Ford parts (buying). I have only had one problem and that was a seller that didn't send the merchandise to me after payment was received, but it got worked out through PayPal.
I wouldn't take a cashier's check if you paid me....hahaha, but seriously, I only take Paypal or wire transfers. I do not accept bids from 0 feedback buyers (unless it's a really cheap item)
Good luck and I really like the car.

Good info, thanks!!!

As for buyers from Australia - or any other part of the world, we have users in most countries of the world in the International Chapter, and I can't speak for everyone else, but if its in my state of Australia (Victoria), I will gladly sort the problem out for a fellow FTE'r
