I tried searching but had no luck with this one. I could use some advice on this one. My 91 Bronco xlt is not putting out much air from the vents. The fan works on all speed settings. The a/c is cold and the heat is warm. It just doesn't feel like the fan is moving the air like it should. The different settings work properly when switching from floor to vent to defrost etc. The flow switches to the right place but there is very little air movement. For example, with "vent" selected and the fan on high I can barely feel any air coming out. There is some but not nearly enough. It's the same for all the other positions, the air comes from the right place just not enough of it. The air flaps appear to be working properly because it is switching as it should. It almost seems like the fan is turning but not moving the air. Any idea what could be causing this???? Thanks in advance.
And a third possibility is excessive voltage drop across an electricl device, such as the speed switch or contacts at the dropping resistor. My 89 SHO did that to me, the speed switch was dropping almost 2 volts (and got QUITE warm) when I first got the project car.
Yet another possibility is an evaporator that has had the fins clogged with dust or other debris. You'll have to pull the blower motor to inspect that one....
Hey, thanks for all the ideas. I'll try to get to it this weekend. I hate the time change cause by the time I get off work at 4:30 it's too late to start any projects. Sucks not having a garage anymore! I don't think it's electrical cause the switch seems to function normally and I can definitely hear the difference in fan speed. But I'll try everything suggested. I'll post what I find. Thanks guys.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll tear into it this weekend. I hate this time change cuase now by the time I get off work at 4:30 it's too late to really get anything done. Sucks not having a garage anymore. I don't think it's the switch because I can definitely hear the different fan speeds. But who knows, I'm willing to try anything. I'll post what I find out and thanks guys.
