The interior driver's door handle is screwed up.. I couldn't open my door from the inside today but the outside handle worked fine. I took the door panel off the door and pulled back on the handle and it opened fine. It's like the cable is out of adjustment and you have to pull back further on the handle now and you can't pull the handle far enough back because the door panel woln't let it
Any suggestions?

Same thing happened to me. 92 F150, drivers side door, couldn't open from inside. I took of the door panel and everything looked good but still wouldn't work. Anyway I cleaned and oiled it and it worked just fine, problem hasn't returned in almost 2 years now. I hope this helps
I don't know why Ford started using cables on these doors. The original doors on my '90 had link bars between the door latch and both inner and outer door handles, while the '92 doors I have of course has cables for the inner door handle. I like the link bars better, they won't stretch or break... which is what I bet is happening here. I think the only solution is to replace the cable.
this is such a common problem that the salvage yards don't even bother with used cables--they just have a stack of new. $10. my problem is I can't get the inside door cover off. anyone know what the trick is after you take the screws out?
bottom edge will deflect away from frame, but about 5 inches up on both sides the panel is strongly retained. do you try to slide it upwards, or just pull straight out away from frame of door?
There should be barbed plastic pins all around the perimeter of the door. Start at the lower corner and pry it away from the door.. it will take a good tug if it's never been off before. Once it's free, push up to get the upper lip out of the window sil and over the lock button. You may have to open the vent window slightly. If you have electric locks you will have to remove the screws holding the switch block in. Then pull the inner door handle out and shimmy the panel over it.
yes, it came off. score on the barbed clips is: four came out normally, two popped of the panel and were retained in the door, but appear salvageable, one remained in the door and broke the slot/clip on the panel.
the panel slipped right off (forward) over the inner latch handle. you only have to lift the panel up slightly to clear the lock button.
now that I'm inside, I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the latch-end of the cable out. The handle end is easy. I've removed the latch screws, but can't get it off the lock and outside handle push rods so I can get at it.
