Nice to see that Banks finally got rid of the goofy 5"! exhaust tip. I wouldn't be caught dead with that. Like anollmann, I have a Bassani kit. I cannot comment on the fit and function of the Banks. I would believe that they do not manufacture the muffler (or not even the full kit... just private labeled). Are those kits aluminized, or stainless, or a hybrid? What I like about my Bassani is that even though the tubing is aluminized, the inner working of the muffler are stainless steel, with a heavy gauge aluminzed housing. It truly is the best of both worlds. You get the cost savings of an aluminzed kit, but also the longevity of a stainless (since the most abuse is on the internal workings of the muffler). Just my two cents, and as always, YMMV.
I looked at the banks kit before I purchased an exhaust. Talked to owner of a diesel performance shop, that did not recommend Banks. He had just replaced a 1 year old system on a diesel excursion, and banks would not stand behind their warranty, as the "stainless" tubing had rusted out. I went with the SISO magnaflow and couldn't be happier.
NOTE: With your 04, be careful when choosing the correct exhaust system. They (Ford) changed the exhaust mid year. The cutoff is june 04 production. Mine has a june 04 build date and should have the new style exhaust, but it has the old style. I ordered the supposed corrrect kit, 6/04 and up, and then found out it was wrong. I contacted Magnaflow on Friday and they had the correct length Y-pipe to muffer pipe to me on monday, at no charge to me. They didn't have to do that for free, but they did, and didn't ask that I return the other piece that was wrong.
