Ok I know everyone likes the Bilstein Shocks but I would like input on other shocks that have been installed on Expeditions, such as Monroe Reflex, KYB Monomax or Gabriel Max Control. It seems that Monotube shocks are the way to go. Thanks
Id love to give you some advice but i have Bilsteins. Theyre great, and for $239 shipped you cant beat that! Id look no further than Bilsteins if I were you, unless you are on an extremely tight budget.

I got new Monroe Sensa Trac's put on this year, at 80k miles. I barely noticed any difference from the stock ones installed at the factory (Which were most likely bad). I do not recommend them. Although, it was only about $150 installled.
I'm using the Reflex shocks on my personal F150, and the work truck F150. They're a good compromise shock for daily driving, and the handling and ride are both pretty good. I dunno how well they'd do on and Expy, but they should be about the same.
I'll most likely put Bilsteins on my Navigator when I replace them here in the near future.

Expy99, I just in the last couple of days put a set of Pro Comp ES9000's on a 2000 4x4 EB with conventional coil spring suspension. It has 86K on it. They replaced a set of Monroe Sensatrac's. I don't know at what point they were installed, since I just bought the truck from a dealer.
Quite honestly I noticed a slight improvement, but not just a huge amount. There is still a bit too much body roll to suit me. The Pro Comps were a good price $106 shipped to me, so that had a certain attraction. At this point I have ordered a Hellwig sway bar to go on the rear and a Energy Suspension replacement bushing set for the front. I feel like this will be an acceptable combination. I will try to post my impressions when that is completed.
explorerford1999,I purchased and installed the Monroe Reflex shocks for my 98. They work great, not too soft/harsh on highway, they'll make a world of difference if your shocks are currently worn out.

Thanks for the input, I know most people like Bilsteins but I'm not sure I want to spend that kind of money. Monroe's have a lifetime warranty and could be ordered locally.
Hi All,
I am going to replace my shocks with Bilsteins and others have mentioned a slight modification to the bushings for the front shocks, (to be able to start the nut). Does anyone have more info as to exactly what part of the bushing or how much is trimmed? Thanks!
Well I finally made up my mind on what shocks to purchase. I bought Monroe Reflex from Auto Barn for $160 shipped. Installation was a breeze; just remove all four tires and not a problem. No modification need to get the shocks to fit. I have 90,000 on my Exp with the original shocks. One was leaking, two had no pressure and one seemed ok. The test drive- Truck rides awesome, no more noises, smooth and responsive.
