96 explorer trans
I'm new to this forum.Hi all.I have a 96 explorer with a 4.0.I got a little sick of the searching so I just posted.This tranny has 140,000 on it. I was wondering which trans it has or do I have to crawl under it. It has a code of a solenoid problem. Guy said 2nd gear was going out.It's fine until you punch it on the freeway and the cel goes on.Other than that, I'm trying to help owner on decisions.What should one of these cost rebuilt if I bring the old one in? He had a guy tell him $2200-$2400 with a rebuilt tranny by ford.Does ford rebuild trannys now? Sounds seedy to me and they want it done before heavy snow.Any help apppreciated.Thanks
