Rear Main

i have an 82 f-150, straight 6 with a manual 4 speed, my rear main seal went out so it's pissin oil, will it be easier to change by yanking the engine, or pullin the tranny, as i only have one day a week off of work to try fixin it, and i need to get it done before the snow flies

Hey, if you have the one piece seal, and being a six cylinder it should be as I recall, then the quickest way is to pull out the tranny. It is a lot more work to try and pull the engine, with exhaust, coolant, fuel, and wiring to deal with. If it is a two piece seal like the older 302 engines, then you need to drop the oil pan and put in a new gasket there as well. Again, I don't think that the 300 ci engine used a two piece seal, only a one piece.....

Also, if the crank is grooved you should be able to get a speedy sleeve, I am quite sure they are available with the one piece seal engines...
