doors

I'm sure this has been covered, but I can't find it. How do I get the exterior door handles off? they have a twist in them, but I can't figure out which way to go to get them off? Should I have not unbolted the inner workings before I tried to remove them?
Then what is the best way to align the doors? Do you have to bend the hinges to make it all match up?
Any advise would be appreciated.
thanks
Howard

Howard, there is a lot of discussion concerning door alignment in the Thread above by Fix and elderrodder that might be helpful if you haven't already seen it.

To get the outside handle to come out of the door you must index the inside door handle to the full open position and then the outside door handle should be able to be slid out of the mechanism. There are angled flats on the square part of the ouside handle that lock it in until you do this. It might take a little working the outside handle to get clear but it is held basically level, the way it is when you first install it. To install the handle, just reverse the process. I hope elderrodder doesn't mind me borrowing this from a past thread
