My 99 Lariet overhead console works fine; after the re-solder repair. That was 6 months ago.
Today, it read 236 mte (miles to empty) when I stopped to fill up. After topping off the tank, it read.... 236 mte. Restarting the engine and playing with the mode butons did nothing at all! (I'm wondering if it counts down past 0 mte will it start over at 999 mte?)
What is up with this thing? Ford's better idea for driving PSD owners crazy?
Maybe I should just get rid of it... but where would I put my sunglasses?
Anyone seen this before and what could be done to fix it?
It just sucks. We call it a Lie-o-Meter around here. The only thing that i really believe to be correct is the direction, temperature, and surely when it's turned off. The mileage and MTE don't really mean squat. The MTE seems to be pretty accurate with stock size tires, but my tire size puts that off by about 18%, so now i dont really look at it. It's just cool to see 700+ MTE once you fill up.
Way back when i had my edge evo/juice stacked, the MPG read 36.4 mpg, and i showed it to my mom, she was amazed. I told her it's not that accurate, just maybe 5-10 miles off accurate ( ). She believed the computer over logic and now she doesn't complain to me about my diesel-guzzling rig.
