Removing the steering wheel

This is probably too simple but how do you remove the steering wheel? I am afraid that I am going to damage the horn ring and I don't see any other way to remove it other than pulling up. Can anybody help me, perhaps a diagram?

Thank you, Nikki

Removing the steering wheel

You remove the horn button/ring by pushing down and turning counterclockwise ( you might unhook the battery first to avoid annoying the neighbors ). The steering wheel is removed by removing the large nut on the shaft and then using a puller to pull the steering wheel up and off the splines. The nut also holds some of the horn contact parts on so keep track of where everything goes. You can get an inexpensive puller at most large auto parts chain stores. They bolt to the steering wheel ( there's holes drilled and tapped just for this purpose under the horn button ) and then turn the center bolt down on the end of the shaft and keep turning to pull the wheel off.

Try the tech tips section at: www.bonusbuilt.com. There is a post that offers a very simple solution to removing a steering wheel without the anxiety of wheel pullers etc.
