Clutch install

When putting a new pressure plate on how far do you tighten down? Is the pressure plate supposed to be flush to the flywheel? As far as I remember the old one was??

you just bolt it down and I think the torque is like 20 or 30 ft lbs

It will touch down, but not usually flush, it would have to be machined to be such, generally,the flywheel is purely flat, except the center hole area.
