Four years ago, I put a fosgate Q system and a crossfire amp in my truck. The q system was amazing, imagery and reproductions was exact. It was the best $700 I spent on speakers/amp, now I am looking to do that again with my crew cab.
I don't carry people around often, so I want to build a system that will sound great in the drivers seat. My thinking on budget is:
$500 front component set
$200 rear component set
$400 Amp 4 channel capable of producing the power and range the speakers can handle.
Any recommendations on brands? I am playing on crutchfield, MB quart premium for the front and infinity reference system in the rear.
I must be missing something, on amps I have found JBL and Infinity to be the best choices so far for 4 channels. Infinity reference 7541 has a responcive range of 10-100,000 Hz, 111 watts per channel a slightly high signal to noise of 81 db and is the cheapest one on my new list. More power, more range and cheaper price, that can't be right. What am I not getting?
I really like the MB quarts, the Q system is more money than I want to throw at it, but the premium seems right. Also I think I want q-logic kick panels and dynamat dyna-orbs. Any other suggestions?
I just found out that one of my long time vendors does Memphis audio. So I am thinking the newer 16-MCA5004. Anyone know of their medium to high end component set part numbers?

81 dB s/n seems low actually, higher number is better. Also, look for the distortion level at the same impedance ie; 4 ohms. it should be in the hundredths like 0.01 or something... 0.1 is 10 times the distortion as 0.01.
Just a suggestion, get coaxials for the rear and a 5/6 channel amp and a 10" sub in a sealed box; door speakers are all right, to a point, I just don't like the sound of 4 people pounding on the outside of my doors... that's what bass in door speakers sounds like to me. I'm kinda partial to Alpine amps but infinity is probably pretty good.
I already have a pair of 10" behind the rear seat. They'll get upgraded later on.
I am thinking about the coaxials in the rear to ease installation. Fogive my ignorance, it's been a while sence I have done audio, but is distortion level the same as THD %?
