hey, I have a 2006 f-350, diesel, ext. cab, 4x4. For some reason when I get up to about 71 mph on the turnpike and I hit the set accel button, the mph drops to about 67ish. Then it speeds up to about 75ish and then steadys itself around 73mph. Also if I hit the set accel button, it jumps up about 3-4mph. Is this normal for a diesel? I have cruise control on my 2005 f-650 and it doesn't seem to do that. Thanks for the info!
Alex
Mine's erratic sometimes. I've had it do what you describe and I've also had it set at 5 mph above where I wanted it to. It seems to be sensitive as to whether you're accelerating, decelerating, or at constant speed when you attempt to set the speed. My 2000 had similar characteristics.
I have a 06 f350 crew cab 6.0L and have noticed the same problem. Just today I set it at about 72-73 range and dropped just below 70 then it came back up to speed. It has done that since it was new. I have just accepted that is the way it works. If you find a fix let me know.
My '05 has acted like that since new, (21,000 mi.) but it "hunts" at every grade change on hi-way. I saw a thread the other day here and understood that the SCT programmer would cure most of the "ills" with this TorkShift. I am spoiled with my old '01 PSD as it has always re-acted great to cruise settings and pulling on most any road. I have my '05 in the shop presently (1st time) and they are going to check all modules for "programming" glitches.
my 05 F350 6.0 auto does this also, I hate it but wat da ya do. My only question is does anyone have a 6 speed that does it also or is it just the auto's?
