2004 Navigator

I am looking into purchasing a 2004 Navigator. I would like all current and previous owners to please give me thier opinion of the truck. Did you experience a lot of problems with it? What problems did you experience? How reliable do you feel it is?

I have had a 2003 Navigator for about 2 years now. If you want my HONEST opinion - I would not get an 04! The prices on the 2005's is about $30-34K right now if you shop around. The high gas prices have made sellers sell LOW. I have seen used 06's sell for under $40K recently!

The 2005 is a better truck period. You get a super-slick 6-speed auto tranny verses the old 4-speed that the 04's have. Also - you get the newer 3 valve 5.4 - that is very very slightly stronger than the 4V - and has WAY MORE aftermarket support due to the F-150 community.

Definately get the power fold rear seats, really all the options are very nice to have. Mine has everything except sunroof and power running boards.

The 03-04 are very very nice, but spend the extra 1-2K and get an 05. You will thank me years down the road!

I have to agree. I have an 04 and it had so many problems. It was in the shop for more 60 days. Ford ended up giving me 10,000 dollars when i said i would sue them.

The 05 has had all the updates that failed on my truck. The f150 relation is great if you like modding like me!

Good luck either way.

My next door neighbor has a 04. He has experienced several problems with it. After all the repairs were completed, his repair bill was in excess of $5000. Nice looking truck but the dealer kept his truck in for repairs in excess of 2 weeks. And after talking with several other people about their truck, seems the 04 is prone to a lot of problems. But I was seriously looking at the 07 Expedition as well. For what a low mileage 05 Navigator cost, I am sure I could work a deal for a 07 Expedition. Right now the 07 is hard to find. I have been trying to locate a dealer that has one for a test drive. Thanks for all your opinions.

I currently have an '03 Lincoln Navigator and so far the only problem that I've encountered was the annoying power mirrors. When I go into reverse the mirror tilts all the way down and then never returns to its original position. And then if I attempt to reposition it via the dial makes it even worse. If I move the dial up the reverse would happen. The mirror would want to tilt down even further reaching its max position therefore causing another annoying clicking noise.

I just purchased a 05 gator after researching and looking for 3 mths. I got mine with every option you can get from the factory with 30,000 miles on it for 31,500. The 6 speed tranny was the main factor vs the 04. The change from 05 to 06 was minimal. Now that they have the new redesigned 07 prices on older models are very reasonable. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but you would have to buy a 07 expy to get the 6 speed tranny.
