fuel Tank ?
I've searched tanks, and they list It as 16 gallon most everywhere, but I am somewhat confused because I have never seen a 16 gallon sending unit. They usually only list 19 or 17 gallon senders. I'm wondering Are the 17 gallon senders the correct ones for the 16 gallon tanks By chance?
One other question, My donor truck is a 84 2wd 302 carbed original, with duel tanks. The donor truck also had a longer bed, the side tank is a 19 I believe, and i have'nt taken measurements yet to check if it will fit, therefore at first glance looks like a possibility it won't fit My short wheel based truck. Wondering if It's even possible to use it or if It's too long? If it is possible, how hard to convert it to a single tank setup?
Thanks in advance
The sending unit should work fine. If you have it out go ahead and put a new float on it. They only cost about $6.50 at the Ford dealer and it could save you from dropping the tank again.

The gauge is not working now, and does'nt move at all, so either the float is filled already, or I have electrical problem with it. I'll try to determain which It is when I end up dropping the tank.
It seems to have a venting problem also when I fill the tank, and a leak from up top after I filled it. I'm still not sure if the tank was just full, or if It really is a vent issue. I don't drive it alot right now, so trying to run some gas out of It, so I can try filling again to see. It may have just been full and causing the gas pump to shut on and off, but I put around 20 bucks in, and it was shutting the gas pump down from start to end. Guess I need to stick something down the tube for My gas gauge LOL. Been a while since I had to do that with a vehicle I owned. As I run gas out the leak stopped though, so It was full after putting gas in probably, and leaking from around the filler connection on the tank or something. A working gauge sure would be nice.
I don't mind shuffling out the money for a new 16g tank instead of using the 19g from the donor, because I want to protect the parts I will be putting on My fuel system to the carb anyway, and a new tank would be best for that , but I want to make sure I fix any other issues while I'm in the tank. The 19 on the donor was a PITA to unbolt the straps, and that one was in good condition with the bed off the truck. Those bolts fought me the whole way to the end, and they were long. I received a few nice knuckle busters In the proccess too. still have a knot on the side of My wrist from It, and that was 2 weeks ago when I pulled It off.
Thanks again
