well i just stuck a new lift pump on my truck but am having trouble getting the banjo bolt started again. It really sucks having big hands. Its bad enough having to lay ontop of the motor that long but I can only get my middle and index finger down there. sometimes it really sucks being a big guy.
anybody have any ideas. any imput would be much appreciated.
If you can to the back of the motor behind the turbo use a socket with extensions and a swivel.
You need to go under the turbo on the exhaust manifold side.
But to the inside of the downpipe I think.
Put a paper towel or something like it deep into the socket to keep the bolt out toward the end of the socket.
Wrap a little masking tape around the head of the bolt so the socket stays on the bolt.
I started the bolt in the fitting with the socket attached then pushed the swivel and extension into the socket.
Use needlenose pliers to hold the inner gasket in place till the bolt goes throught it.
I only dropped the gasket about 3 times.
Whatta PITA
Also if you keep the pump bolts loose it gives you a little more wiggle to get the bolts started.
Seems to start better if its a little higher up.
Hope you allready have the hoses on.
