Can anyone help with this dilemma,
I'm thinking of buying a 1997 ford explorer its the V6 overhead valve 5 speed manual the XL here in Australia,(whereas, the XLT is the more luxurious model featuring the overhead cam with 5 speed automatic transmission),
this vehicle has approx 100,000 miles on the clock-
the bad news is that I've heard the transfer case or gearbox explodes at about this mileage. Can you advise me what to look for or what preventative work i should if I buy the vehicle.
Any help you can give would be much appreciated.
regards,
victor.
