Help problem with Expedition

I have a 1998 Expedition the problem with it is that when I try turning it on it wouldn't stay on only if I kept my foot on the gas peddle once I let go of it it would turn off

Welcome Laura!

The most likely cause of your problem is something called the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve. I don't know how handy you are but it's pretty easy to replace.

Not that handy but around how much does this part cost & where is it located

Another string stated the IAC costs around $40 bucks at a local parts place.

on my brother's explorer, just pulling out the IAC and dousing the insides with electric cleaner (any autoparts store, $3-$6) did the trick.

had the same exact symptoms as you. it was a ridiculously easy fix to do in the explorer. not something you've got to be too handy for.

al
